Birthday...
May. 5th, 2006 | 08:30 pm
My 30th birthday is on Sunday. I'm a little nervous about being out of my 20's but I guess it was inevitable. Actually, given some times in my life, I should be glad I made it this far.
Anyway, lunch at Todai (downtown) at 2:00 for anyone that is interested in getting together for some Sushi for lunch.
I know it's not the most exciting thing to do, but I am not planning my own party and that is all that has been planned so far. hehe

well, the good news is that I still have my job at the Humane society and I got my raise even if it was a charity donation... the bad and good news is that I turn 30 on May 7th. I'm kind of in a funk about it. I am not worried about my age but dog-gonit! I'm worried that no=one will turn up to fucking celebrate it with me.

thomas-san...my dark knight in shining armour
Feb. 20th, 2006 | 01:40 am
thomas' loving moments are somewhat rare, what with all the animals in the house and him being the only cat allowed outside...but he is such a hero in my eyes. The most noble of all cats.

taxes
Feb. 2nd, 2006 | 11:06 pm
So I did my own taxes and I *think* I'm getting a pretty decent return this year. I am apprehensive because last year, the first time I caluculated my taxes, I had a big return and then rechecked my math and actually wound up owing $1000. So...I'm on my fourth beer in "psuedo-celebration" (ie. I'm drinking and pretending I'm a rich-ass mother-fu**er) and even though I've double-triple-quadruple checked my math and the instructions, I'm holding back a little. Haha, maybe if I drink another beer or two I'll forget about my math insecurities and start lighting fireworks! If I'm right and I got those checks in my fat, greasy hands, you better believe there is gonna be a real celebration!

On the subject of college:

I need to go, again.
That being said, this made me laugh today. It's quoted from the Alumni magazine and I will admit that even though I thought there was no escape from the smell of Malt-O-meal in Northfield, I never once heard another soul complain about it. I, on the other hand, was quite loud in my complaint because I HATE Malt-O-Meal
"The Limestones' legendary "Cream of Wheat" song was the brainchild of Cataldo and Gilhoi. The young men were living in Ellingson when they ventured upstairs to chat with some girls. While visiting with student LIsa Gring (eventual wife of an original Limestone), they noticed a box of Cream of Wheat in her room. Says Gilhio: "It seemed strange and, in fact, wrong since we were living in the town where the scent of Malt-O-Meal continually filled the air. It just had to be some sort of bad omen."
It's true, you don't eat Malt-O-Meal in Northfield. And has anyone who didn't either attend St. Olaf or marry an Ole ever heard of the Limestones? Yeah, bad omen...

Merry Holidays!
Dec. 22nd, 2005 | 08:43 pm
First off, tomorrow is Justin's birthday so we are all going out. Meeting here at 6-7pm-ish so if any of you want to come out with us let me know or show up at the house around then. He hasn't told me where he wants to go yet, so I'll call any late-comers and let you know our destination. We're thinking something that involves food, drink and things to do. Heha, that's the best I can tell you. :)
I haven't posted yet about how beautiful our christmas tree is-I took Justin on his virgin trip to Mt. Hood to cut down the tree. The snow was beautiful and weather was warm and sunny. We drove around all over creation trying to find the perfect noble (because I'm picky like that) and after a while we were about to give up and brave the ice on Lolo Pass when we saw bright sun ahead. We slid around a bend in to the most incredible stand of Nobles. It wasn't exactly a secret spot becuase a few cars had been there ahead of us, but now I know where to go without fail. The tree decorating was my entertainment last monday. Nick came over and he and Justin played Day of Defeat all night while I hung lights and decorated the house. It's really a very pretty tree, the best yet in my opinion. Justin said the most fun was 4x4-ing in the snow but I secretly think his favorite part was watching his dog play in the snow for the first time. ;)
Since then it's been pretty dull. I wish I had planned more for this weekend, it kind of snuck up. I always felt bad for people who have birthdays right around Christmas so I'm trying to make a big point of not combining the two for Justin, but I haven't even thought about a cake, etc. I have a big day ahead of me tomorrow, luckily I have most of the day off and Justin is working so I can sneak stuff in the house while he's not here. :)

i just saw the most amazing cloud formation ever...I went outside for a moment and looked up for no reason and the most beautiful moonlit scallop shell cirrus cloud was just hovering above my head. It was incredible. I spun around in circles, seeing it from every angle and admiring how beautifully shaped the edges were and the vastness of it. It looked like the edge of the shell was right above my house and the rings got smaller as I looked north. I could have spun in circles all night but I wanted to share it, so I ran inside, everyone is asleep in the house, i looked at the clock: 11:11. Something magical.

Happy Holidays
Nov. 25th, 2005 | 07:49 pm
mood:
cheerful
Spent most of the day today decorating the shelter. It's really nice to hear the holiday music and pig out on turkey. I know the novelty will wear off in a couple of days, but right now I'm in a great mood and feel like putting pine scented things all over the house. Up until yesterday it actually felt like winter to me. :) In MN the winters are cold and sunny and it's been so nice out that I want to spend my time outside raking leaves and romping with the dogs. Thanksgiving was good, as always, with my family. My brothers and I learned how to play Cranium. We are a whole family of quasi-geeks but I have to say that I am lucky to have siblings that I get along with and are willing to hang out and do nerdy stuff without feeling self-consious about it.
Do I ever say how much I love my boyfriend? Probably not enough. We've certainly had our trials and tribulations since we threw ourselves together in the same household, but it's amazing how we manage to work things out and come to aggreements. He bought himself a milk snake today. It's a beautiful snake! The house is getting a little overwhelmed with critters but at least most of them are babies or caged. I'm happy that Zach took Lizzie, she deserved more attention. Anyway, I'm off to make a hot tottie and watch My Name is Earl.

mental breakdowns
Nov. 8th, 2005 | 09:36 pm
I know everyone gets this every now and then...
I just had one of those moments where I needed to talk to someone but had no one to talk to...so I got in my car and drove. Not far away, just drove...around the block, then up a couple of alleys in the mud and back and around the block again and onto Columbia at 70 mph and thought to myself out and cried and got those tears outta my system. It's a way of clearing my mind when I need to and I assume it's a way of "taking control" by being in control of my auto. I have always loved driving for the sake of driving a car and steering in to or out of puddles, mud pits, ditches, slopes and the great unknown. Coming out of it with no hitches makes me feel like a queen and it's empowering...the whole time thinking about how I am relaxing and just enjoying that. It's like Bhudda on a power trip. Analyze that!

you know that feeling...
Nov. 3rd, 2005 | 09:14 pm
mood:
frustrated
when you feel like you've lost your mind yet you *know* you haven't? Normally I would blame it on being drunk but I've been cutting waaaay back on the drinking (as in, partying is for the weekends. Although this Saturday I DID fall down, in true Sarah form, at a party- I went back to playing "drink while you think" even though I might as well have lost the curls and nurses cap and just put a freakin lampshade on my head. The best part about it was getting home and promising Justin a night of fantastic sex and getting him naked and me naked and I went to get some water and got sucked in to some commercial with fake people and 30 seconds later go in the room to find him snoring away so I pass out next to him...ah, that's another story.) So where was I?
Oh yeah, so I'm not drunk. I can not for the life of me find my Scoundral Days cd. It's a rediculous A-ha cd that no one would steal, yet, it's not anywhere in my cd collection. Where did it go? I feel stupid looking for it but I can't fathom where it would be if not with the rest of my cds. Ugh...usually I would have some lame excuse for this but tonight I have "Maybe Maybe" stuck in my head and everyone knows that when a song is stuck in your head you have to hear it performed to move on. I NEED that CD! Since I can't find it, I'm going to torture everyone. Think about these lyrics going on and on and on in your brain:
"Maybe it was over when you chucked me out the 'Rover at full speed...maybe, maybe"
